തലയ്ക്കു വെളിവും കാലിനു ബലവും ഉള്ള ഒരുത്തനും പാലറ്റിൽ നിന്നും അന്ന് പോയില്ല !!!

മൊത്തം ഒരു ഫാന്റസി ആണ്.. ഇതിൽ ചിലതൊക്കെ നടന്നതും.. കൂടുതലും നടക്കാത്തതും ആണ്..

ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ കമ്പനിയിൽ കുറെ മലയാളി ഫ്രണ്ട്‌സ് ഉണ്ട്.. ഇടക്ക് എവിടേലും കൂടും .. പഴേ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ അയവിറക്കുക, ഓഫീസ് ഗോസ്സിപ് പറയുക, നല്ല ഫുഡ് അടിക്കുക, അടിച്ചു ഓഫ് ആകുക.. ഇത്ര മാത്രം.

ഓഫീസിനു അടുത്ത് പാലറ്റ് എന്നൊരു പബ് ഉണ്ട്.. ഒരു വൈകുന്നേരം ഒരു നാല് മണിക്ക് ഇറങ്ങി.. ഞാൻ, അജേഷ്, ടിറ്റോ, ലിജോ, സുകേഷ്, നമ്പൂതിരി, ജെകെ .. ഇതിൽ 40 വയസ്സിനു താഴെ ഉള്ള ഒരുത്തനും ഇല്ല.. മൊത്തം ഒരു ജെൻസി ക്രൗഡ് .. യോ യോ .. 

ചെന്നു കേറിയ പാടെ.. സുകേഷിനേം, ജെകെയെം, നമ്പൂതിരിയേം കണ്ട വെയ്റ്റർ ബംഗാളി പയ്യൻ.. ഹലോ സേട്ടാന്നു..ഹോ, ബാംഗ്ലൂർ ആണ്.. അത്യാവശ്യം പോഷ് പബ് ആണ്.. 

ടിറ്റോ  : മൂഡ് പോയി, മൂഡ് പോയി..ഡാ, ലിജോ വേഗം എന്തേലും ഓർഡർ ചെയ്തേ.. 

അജേഷ്  : ഇവിടു ബീഫ്  ഉലർത്തിയത് ഉണ്ടോ?

ഞാൻ: അജേഷേ.. ഇത് കൈരളി ഹോട്ടൽ അല്ല.. പബ്ബാ .. (മനസ്സിൽ : എവിടെ പോയാലും.. ബീഫ് ബീഫ്..വീട്ടിൽ എന്നും ഇത് ഇതന്നെ.. എന്നാലും ആർത്തി മാറീട്ടില്ല ..)

ലിജോ - (ഞെട്ടി) ഏ !!! നമ്പൂതിരി തന്നെയല്ലേ? നിങ്ങൾ ഇതൊക്കെ കഴിക്കുവോ?

നമ്പൂതിരി - നോം സാധാരണ വെജ് ആണ്..വീട്ടിൽ ഈ സാധനം കേറ്റില്യ!! ...പക്ഷെ വെള്ളം അടിക്കുമ്പം ഇത് അങ്ങ് സ്മൂത്ത് ആയി ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോണേൽ നോൺ വെജ് നിർബന്ധാ ..

ലിജോ എന്തൊക്കെയോ വലിച്ചു വാരി ഓർഡർ ചെയ്യാൻ ബംഗാളി പയ്യനെ വിളിച്ചു.. ആദ്യം തന്നെ അവനു ഒരു 500 രൂപ ടിപ്പ് കൊടുത്തു..എല്ലാവരും കൂടെ ഒരുമിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു.. എന്തിനാ ഇപ്പോഴേ ടിപ്പ്? അതും ഇത്രേം കൂടുതൽ?

ലിജോ - ഇനി നോക്കിക്കോ .. അവൻ ഈ ടേബിൾ വിട്ടു പോവില്ല..

സുകേഷ് - ഡേയ് മിണ്ടാതിരിയഡേ .. ഇന്നാളു നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചോദിച്ചിട്ടാണ് 'കിടിലം' ഹോട്ടൽ പൂട്ടിപോയതു .. നല്ല ബീഫ് കിട്ടുന്ന കടയാരുന്നു .. ഓഫീസിൽ വരാൻ ഉള്ള മെയിൻ മോട്ടിവേഷൻ .. അത് പൂട്ടിയതിനു ശേഷം.. അജേഷ് എന്നും വർക്ക് ഫ്രം ഹോം ആണ്..

ലിജോ കുടിക്കാനും കഴിക്കാനും എന്തൊക്കെയോ ഓർഡർ ചെയ്തു.. വീണ്ടും ചെയ്തു..ഇതിങ്ങനെ ഒരു ലൂപ്പിൽ പൊയ്‌ക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു ..

വൈകിട്ട് 4 മണിക്ക് തുടങ്ങിയ കലാപരുപാടി രാത്രി ഒരു 11 വരെ തുടർന്നു..

അതിനിടക്ക് റ്റിറ്റോക്കു ഡാൻസ് കളിക്കണം. ഡാൻസിൽ അവൻ ഒരു മമ്മൂക്ക ആണ്‌ .. എന്തൊക്കെയോ ചെയ്യണം എന്ന അതിയായ ആഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ട്.. പക്ഷെ പറ്റുന്നില്ല.. പക്ഷെ അവൻ അവിടെ കിടന്നു ഡാൻസ് ചെയ്തു മെഴുകി.. അവൻ ഓരോ ടേബിളിലും പോയി.. അവരേം മോട്ടിവേറ്റ് ചെയ്തു.. അടങ്ങി ഒതുങ്ങി ഇരുന്നു കുടിച്ചും കഴിച്ചും ഇരുന്ന പാലറ്റ് മുഴുവൻ ഡാൻസ്.. അതും ഇവൻ സെന്റ്ററിലും ജനം മുഴുവനും അവൻ്റെ ചുറ്റിലും.. എല്ലാരും ഇവന്റെ ഊള സ്റെപ്സ് ഫോളോ ചെയ്യുന്നു.. ഹൃതിക് റോഷന്റെ സ്റ്റെപ് ഇവൻ കളിക്കുന്നത് പുള്ളി എങ്ങാനും കണ്ടാൽ.. പാലെറ്റിന്റെ ഡാൻസ് ഫ്ലോറിൽ ഒരു കുഴി കുത്തി അവിടെ കിടന്നു ഒരു റീത്ത് എടുത്തു നെഞ്ചത്ത് വെച്ചേനെ ..ഹോ അടിച്ച സാധനത്തിന്റെ കിക്ക്‌ പോയി ഇവന്റെ ഡാൻസ് കണ്ടിട്ട്..

ഇടക്ക് ഒന്നു ബാത്റൂമിൽ പോയപ്പോൾ.. ടിറ്റോ അവിടെ ക്ലീനിങ്ങിനു നിന്നിരുന്ന ഒരു പയ്യന്... 200 രൂപ ടിപ്പ് കൊടുക്കുന്നു.. എന്നിട്ടു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ പോലെ അവിടുന്ന് ഇറങ്ങി വരുന്നു.. 

ക്ലീനിങ് പയ്യൻ - (മനസ്സിൽ) - എന്തോരോ മഹാനു ഭാവലു...

ഞാനും പയ്യനും കൂടെ ബാത്റൂമിന് അകത്തേക്ക് കേറി.. ഇപ്പം കാര്യം മനസ്സിലായി.. ടിറ്റോ അവിടെ പൂക്കളം വാരി വിതറി മെഴുകി വെച്ചു .. അത് ക്ലീൻ ചെയ്യാൻ ഉള്ള അഡ്വാൻസ് ആരുന്നു.. നേരത്തെ ടിപ്പ് രൂപത്തിൽ കൊടുത്ത്..

സുകേഷ്  - അതൊന്നും കുഴപ്പം ഇല്ലെടാ.. അതിവിടെ വെച്ചേക്കടാ

ഒരു 11 മണി ആകാറായപ്പം ജെകെയും നമ്പൂതിരിയും കൂടെ പോകാൻ തയാറെടുത്തു ..ഞാനും അവരെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.. ബാക്കി സുകേഷ്, ലിജോ, അജേഷ്  ഒക്കെ റ്റിറ്റോയും അവൻ്റെ ഡാൻസും കണ്ടോണ്ടു ഡാൻസ് ഫ്ലോറിൽ ..ഞാൻ ഇവരുടെ പുറകെ പോകുമ്പം.. നമ്പൂതിരി നടക്കുന്നത് ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സ്റ്റൈലിൽ ആണ്.. പണ്ട് ടീവിയിൽ അയ്യപ്പ ബൈജു ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഒരു കലാരൂപം ഓർമ്മ വന്നു..നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ അര മുതൽ താഴോട്ടു മുൻപോട്ടും .. അര മുതൽ മുകളിലോട്ടു പുറകോട്ടും ആണ് പോകുന്നത്.. എങ്ങനെയൊക്കെയോ നടന്നു ബൈക്കിന്റെ അടുത്തെത്തി.. ജെകെ ജാക്കറ്റിൽ നിന്നും കീ എടുക്കുന്നു.. ബൈക്ക് അൺലോക്ക് ചെയ്യാൻ നോക്കുന്നു.. ഒരു 10 മിനിറ്റ് ജെകെ ആ കീ തിരിക്കാൻ നോക്കി.. അവസാനം.. നമ്പൂതിരി അത് കണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു.. ജെകെ ഇട്ടു തിരിക്കുന്നത് ഓഫീസിലെ ഡ്രോയർ കീ ആരുന്നു.. 

എന്നാ കുരിശൊക്കെ ആണോ എന്തോ? 

കുറച്ചു ബോധം വന്നപ്പം ജെകെ ഓർത്തു.. ബൈക്കിന്റെ കീ സുകേഷിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ആണെന്ന്..

ഞാൻ സുകേഷിനെ വിളിച്ചു.. ഡാൻസ് ഫ്ലോറിൽ നിന്നും ഊള സ്റെപ്സ് ഇടുന്നതിനു ഇടയിൽ.. സുകേഷ് ഫോൺ എടുത്തു.. നമ്മൾ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞു.. സുകേഷ് ആ ഓക്കേ.. ഒരു രണ്ടു മിനിറ്റു .. നമ്മൾ ഒരു 10 മിനിറ്റു വെയിറ്റ് ചെയ്തു.. ആരും വന്നില്ല.. അവസാനം നമ്പൂതിരി ടിറ്റോയുടെ ഡാൻസ് ഫ്ലോറിൽ എത്തി.. 

സുകേഷ് പറയുവാ.. അയ്യോടാ.. ഞാൻ ഫോൺ വെച്ചിട്ടു വീണ്ടും ഡാൻസ് ചെയ്യാൻ പോയി.. നിങ്ങൾ വിളിച്ച കാര്യം മറന്നു പോയി.. അവസാനം കീ ഒക്കെ ആയി വന്നു.. നമ്പൂതിരിയും ജെകെയും വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.. ഞാൻ കുറച്ചു നേരം പുറകെ പോയി.. അവരുടെ ബൈക്ക് ആണോ.. അതോ എന്റെ ബൈക്ക് ആണോ സിഗ് സാഗ്  പോലെ പോകുന്നത് എന്ന് ഇപ്പോഴും എനിക്കൊരു ക്ലാരിറ്റി കിട്ടിയില്ല.. ഏതോ ഒരു ബൈക്ക് അങ്ങനെ പോയത് ആണ് എന്റെ ഓർമ്മ..വഴിയുടെ ലെഫ്റ്റിൽ നിന്നും റൈറ്റിലേക്കു അത് പോലെ തിരിച്ചും.. ഇതിങ്ങനെ പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടേ ഇരുന്നു 

ലിജോയെ വീട്ടിൽ കൊണ്ടാക്കാൻ അജേഷ് പോയി.. ലിജോ താക്കോൽ ഇട്ടു കുറെ തിരിച്ചു.. എന്ത് ചെയ്തിട്ടും ഡോർ തുറക്കുന്നില്ല.. കൊണ്ടാക്കാൻ പോയ അജേഷും നോക്കി.. ഒരു രക്ഷയും ഇല്ല.. അവസാനം 10 മിനിറ്റു കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവിടുത്തെ സെക്യൂരിറ്റി വന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.. സാറേ ലോക്ക് ലെഫ്റ് സൈഡിൽ അല്ല.. റൈറ്റ് സൈഡിലാ .. നിങ്ങൾ കീ ഇടുന്നതു മറ്റേ സൈഡിലാ .. 

ലിജോ - ഹോ നമ്മൾ രണ്ടും ഓഫ് ആണല്ലോ.. എന്നിട്ടാണോ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നെ കൊണ്ടാക്കാൻ വന്നേ..

അജേഷ് വീട്ടിൽ എത്തി.. എന്ത് ചെയ്തിട്ടും.. ടി ഷർട്ട് ഊരാൻ പറ്റുന്നില്ല.. കഴിച്ചും കുടിച്ചും വയർ കുറച്ചു വീർത്തു.. പക്ഷെ ഇത് തല വഴി ഇറങ്ങി വരുന്നില്ല.. അവസാനം ഭാര്യ വന്നു അജേഷിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.. 

എഡോ മനുഷ്യാ.. നിങ്ങൾ ഹെൽമെറ്റ് ഊരീട്ടില്ല .. അത് ഊരി മാറ്റിട്ടു ടി ഷർട്ട് ഊരു ..

അവസാനം ടിറ്റോ വീട്ടിൽ എത്തി.. ബാത്റൂമിലേക്ക് കയറി.. എല്ലാം നോക്കീം കണ്ടും ചെയ്യുന്നതിന്റെ ഭാഗം ആയി നമ്പൂതിരി റ്റിറ്റോയെ വിളിച്ചു നോക്കി.. സേഫ് ആയിട്ട് എത്തിയോ എന്നറിയാൻ..ടിറ്റോ ഫോൺ എടുത്തു.. ടിറ്റോ പറയുന്നത് നമ്പൂതിരിക്കോ നമ്പൂതിരി പറയുന്നത് റ്റിറ്റോക്കോ കേക്കാൻ പറ്റുന്നില്ല..കുറച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പം വെളിവ് വന്നു..അവൻ ഫോൺ എടുത്തു വെച്ചത്.. ഹെൽമെറ്റിന്റെ മുകളിൽ കൂടി ആരുന്നു.. 

അങ്ങനെ ദേവാസുരത്തിൽ പറയുന്ന പോലെ.. തലയ്ക്കു വെളിവും.. കാലിനു ബലവും ഉള്ള ഒരുത്തനും പാലറ്റിൽ നിന്നും അന്ന് പോയില്ല..പക്ഷെ ഇതിൽ ഒരാൾ അന്ന് കുടി നിർത്തി.. ചെറിയൊരു അബദ്ധം..

അന്ന് വെഡ്‌ഡിങ് ആനിവേഴ്സറി ആരുന്നു.. ഡിന്നർ പ്ലാൻ ഉണ്ടാരുന്നു.. അത് മറന്നു പോയി.. ഡിവോഴ്സ് ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ കുടി നിർത്തി ..

A Memorable Retreat at CS Grand, Dharmapuri: Uniting Creativity and Camaraderie

 As the year drew to a close, our teams, hailing from Technical Documentation, UX/UI, and Shared Services, eagerly embraced the opportunity for a team outing. Thirty-one spirited creators, working under Shantha Kumar, embarked on an adventure to foster connections, laughter, and memories. Young and enthusiastic creators are a blessing in every team. They jumped in and looked various options including Yelagiri, Yercaud and many other places where our major criteria was both Chennai and Bangalore teams should join together. The destination chosen was CS Grand, nestled near Dharmapuri, strategically located 120 kilometers from our Bangalore office and 280 kilometers from Chennai office. Ganesh, Gokul, Prasad and a few others played a major role in finalizing the venue within a short time.

December 1st marked the commencement of our journey, with 15 Bangaloreans in three cars and 16 Chennaites in four cars. There were releases from many creators and many of them didn’t get a good sleep. But, the joy of meeting everyone and having some good time was above all these. En route, a delightful stop for breakfast brought us together over steaming plates of idly, dosa, vada, and an array of delectable treats. Around 11 – 12 noon, all the members reached the place. Upon arrival, the warm welcome at CS Grand set the tone for a remarkable outing. Each participant received a welcome drink and a seashell necklace, and the beauty of the place unfolded before us. The weather, a perfect blend of sunshine and clouds, provided an ideal backdrop for the memorable weekend ahead.

We got some rooms, a suite room, a tree house (more accurately wooden houses) and a dormitory. Dormitory itself was enough for us to stay and we realized the quality of the rooms only after reaching there. Accommodations exceeded expectations, with clean and spacious rooms that exuded a great ambiance. Some of the creators started posing for photos with the beautiful sceneries behind and some others were playing cards and the excitement of meeting in person between Bangalore and Chennai teams – There is always a lot to talk 😊

After checking in, the day kicked off with football, cricket, and lively chit-chat sessions. The young creators were having a lot of energy and enthusiasm, which is natural during these games. Even the veterans showed a lot of energy and spirit which is what it made a lot more fun. After that, we went for our lunch. Lunch, though not extravagant, offered a delicious respite. Not sure, if we were tired and I always believe in this fact – If we are tired, the food taste is having only 3 categories – Good, Better, Best!

After lunch, we took a small rest/nap and charged up for various rope related activities. Not everyone tried everything as there were around 23 rope activities with the safety gears. Except for one activity, rest all were manageable for me and that specific one requires a lot of endurance, hand strength etc. Felt good after completing everything which was followed by a zip line. After effect – I realized post 1-2 days, as my abs, forearm and biceps were paining a lot. Most of the veterans who completed would have felt happy as we were able to give some competition to the Young Turks with boiling blood. Sagar was outstanding as he completed the entire thing in some 20 minutes and Sreeram showed us the way by doing everything first. Shantha led from the front by completing everything and proving the importance of fitness in day-to-day life and Pavana completed the entire activities without any help. Divya and Thebika also completed most of the activities which were commendable. Our photographers captured a lot of candid moments – laugher, tiredness, happiness, achievement, fun etc. during this period.

Then we went for a refreshing dip in the swimming pool – Man, that was amazing again. Had such a good time in the pool with the ball passing game. Everyone enjoyed the game and it was nice to see the strategies creators were having in winning the game. We were divided into 2 teams and had multiple games and spent some good quality and fun time there. The poolside games revealed not only the strategic minds within the team but also the sheer joy of collective participation. Some of us went to freshen up early and others spent a lot of time inside the pool. It was clean water and with the lights all around, it was a good experience.

After the pool dip, we were in various groups again till dinner. There were some games suggested by Shantha and Ganesh. I liked both the games. Shantha’s game was about some 20 people sitting in circle and each one telling their name and what they had for dinner the previous day. The next person needs to repeat all the people till him and add his part as well. It was nice to see, some of the young creators, how they are arranging logically in their memory and fetching it back effortlessly. Everyone got to know everyone’s name with less effort. Ganesh’s game was fun again, where there is some silly logic which people had to crack. People who understood the logic, it was fun and others it was a pain as it progressed.

Had some good dinner. Loved the live dosa and omlette counter there. Though they had a lot of varieties, I just had very limited food. Got some time to have some conversations and chit chat till we slept.

Day 2 – December 2nd dawned with tea, coffee, and a hearty breakfast. Again they had the live counter and other varieties for breakfast. Post breakfast, cricket, badminton, walks, and ongoing photo sessions added charm to the morning. Then the most interesting part came – Team building activities. There were 5 activities and each required a lot of coordination between team members. Personally, I liked this a lot majorly because – we had a lot of young creators in the team who are just kick starting their careers. It was nice to gel with them through these activities and celebrate small wins or small losses together. I think creators who are artists, they will be having ‘Ideas Overloaded’ always 😊 as it was evident in our team. Jags climbed to a rope activity location and clicked some candid photos of the activity, craine shots.

As the day unfolded, we bid farewell to Pavana, celebrating her move from Chennai to 'Namma Ooru - Bengaluru.' Now she can enjoy the dust and the traffic block which might not have been there in Chennai. But on a serious note – Bangalore is one place which is so much receptive. It doesn’t expect you to speak Kannada, most of the people are polyglots and will give you 5 language options for you to speak. Amidst team-building activities, strategic discussions, and laughter, the outing came to an end. The return journey was accompanied by shared stories, laughter, and a stop for lunch. Our retreat to CS Grand will forever remain etched in our memories as a pinnacle experience, a testament to the joy of teamwork, shared victories, and the bonds formed beyond office walls. Here's to more adventures, laughter, and camaraderie in the days to come!

End to an amazing team outing which I will rank as ‘top of my list’ without any doubt.

Squid Game - Addictive & Brilliant

I was/am not a big fan of watching series/binge watching. Till now, I just watched a handful of those series (Prison break, True Blood, Mentalist etc.). Though I heard about Squid game/money heist, never watched it or wanted to watch it. During December 2021, I took a one month plan of Netflix to watch a Malayalam movie (Minnal Murali) and since there was not enough history about my watching preferences, Netflix suggested the most watched programs to me (Squid Game and Money Heist). Finally I ended up watching all the 9 episodes of squid game within the first 2 days itself. I was telling to myself that, you won't be gaining anything out of this and don't bother to watch it, but couldn't help. So I was just doing my analysis of what was so hooking in this program.

Background - Squid game is a Korean survival drama which was released in Netflix on September 2021. It's played by 456 players, where most of them are in deep debts and are in a state, where there is nothing is left to lose in their life. By playing 6 extremely easy games, the winners will go with some huge amount of money (46B Korean currency), but failing in a round will result in their death.

What did I like / Why it's so addictive

1. Character Presentation - Each and every character is having a strong identity. The motive behind their acts is beautifully justified. Some amazing detailing on the script. I could connect very well to the mental state of many of the characters and what are they aspiring for.

2. Unpredictability - You won't get glued to anything, if you can correctly predict what's going to happen next. Here, I was clueless and at the same time extremely anxious on what's going to happen next.

e.g. Sudden killing of the participants, riots within the players, introduction of new characters in each episodes etc.

3. Easy Games - In every habit forming products/games - the first games normally are extremely easy and participats will win and it allows the dopamine generation and they will try to recreate it. Here, all the six games were extremely simple to understand and it's played by the kids in Korea. So the users doesn't need to decrypt anything on this side and can concentrate on point#2 above.

4. Main Protagonist - Seong Gi-hun (Player - 456). He is showcased as a gambling addict with a not so good lifestyle and tons of debt and a failed family life. But at the same time, he cared for his daughtor and as and when the episodes progresses, he is coming out of his shades and the initial bad boy is turning out to be good in their overall behavior - Here, we are going along with him and conneted so well and gets a feeling that, these are real life characters.

5. Acting and Direction - Amazing set of artists, sets, scripting and direction. Each and every artists seem so perfect for their roles and they are in my mind, even after a few days of finishing it.

കൊറോണ മൂലം ഉണ്ടായ ലോക്ക് ഡൌൺ തുടങ്ങീട്ട് ഏകദേശം ഒരു വർഷം ആയി. എങ്ങോട്ടേലും ഒരു ട്രിപ്പ് ഒക്കെ പോയിട്ട് ഒരു വര്ഷം കഴിഞ്ഞു. മാർച്ച് തുടക്കത്തിൽ അപ്പാർട്മെന്റിലെ ഒരു സുഹൃത്ത് ചോദിച്ചു, നമുക്ക് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും കൂടെ ഒരു ഫാമിലി ട്രിപ്പ് പോയാലോ? അധികം ദൂരെ ഒന്നും അല്ലാത്ത ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ..ആലോചിച്ചു നോക്കിയപ്പം.. കൊറോണ കേസുകളിൽ കാര്യമായ കുറവുണ്ട്, ഇത് മുഴുവൻ കുറയുന്നത് നോക്കി ഇരുന്നാൽ എങ്ങും പോക്ക് ഉണ്ടാവില്ല. പിള്ളേരൊക്കെ മര്യാദക്ക് ഒന്ന് പുറത്തു ഇറങ്ങീട്ടു കുറെ കാലം ആയി.. ഒരു മാറ്റം എന്ത് കൊണ്ടും നല്ലതാ. അങ്ങനെ ആണേൽ പോയേക്കാം.. ഞങ്ങൾ റെഡി.. ഒരു വാട്സാപ് ഗ്രൂപ് തുടങ്ങി.. തല്പര കക്ഷികളെ ആഡ് ചെയ്തു. ഒരു ഹോട്ടൽ ലിങ്ക് അയച്ചു തന്നു .. ഏപ്രിൽ 3 - 4 ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ. ദുഃഖ വെള്ളിടെ ലീവ് കാരണം ലോങ്ങ് വീക്കെൻഡ് ആണ്..പിള്ളേരുടെ പരീക്ഷ കഴിഞ്ഞു അവരും ഫ്രീ ആണ്. എല്ലാം പെർഫെക്റ്റ്...

സ്ഥലം മേക്കഡാത്തു, നമ്മുടെ വീട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരു 100+ കിലോമീറ്റർ .. വെല്യ കുഴപ്പം ഇല്ല. സ്ഥലം സജസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത മച്ചാൻ പണ്ട് ഇവിടെ പോയിട്ടും ഉണ്ട്.. അപ്പം നല്ല സ്ഥലം ആയിരിക്കും. ആറു ഫാമിലി ഓക്കേ ആയി. എല്ലാരും മച്ചാൻ അയച്ചു തന്ന ലിങ്കിൽ കേറി ബുക്ക് ചെയ്തു.. വേറെ ഹോട്ടൽ ഒന്നും ആരും തപ്പിയില്ല. ബുക്കിംഗ് കഴിഞ്ഞു എല്ലാരും അതൊക്കെ മറന്നു.. പോകണ്ട സമയം ഏകദേശം ആകാറായി.. ഇന്ത്യ മൊത്തം കോവിഡ് കേസുകൾ കൂടി കൂടി വരുന്നു.. എന്തായാലും ബുക്ക് ചെയ്തതല്ലേ.. അത്യാവശ്യം സൂക്ഷിച്ചൊക്കെ അങ്ങ് പോകാം. 

രാവിലെ ഏഴു മണിക്ക് ഇവിടുന്നു ഇറങ്ങാം, കനക്പുര പരിസരത്തു ഒരു MTR ഉണ്ട് അവിടുന്ന് ബ്രേക്ഫാസ്റ് കഴിക്കാം അതാണ് പ്ലാൻ. MTR എന്ന് കേട്ടപ്പോഴേ എന്റെ മൂഡ് പോയി 

രാവിലെ തന്നെ കന്നഡ ഫുഡ്.. കുറച്ചു അക്രമം ആണ്.. ബാംഗ്ലൂർ വന്നിട്ട് 17 വര്ഷം ആയിട്ടും.. ഇവിടെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടാത്ത ഒരു സാധനം ഇവരുടെ ഫുഡ് ടേസ്റ്റ് ആണ്... മസാല ദോശ ഒക്കെ മൊത്തം എണ്ണയിൽ കുളിപ്പിച്ച് കരിച്ചു എടുത്തിട്ട്.. അകത്തു മുളക് പൊടി ഒക്കെ തേച്ചു മധുരം ഉള്ള സാമ്പാറും, കടല അരച്ച ചമ്മന്തിയും ..മൊത്തം ഒന്നാംതരം വെറുപ്പീരു ...ജീവിക്കുന്നത് തന്നെ ഫുഡ് അടിക്കാനാണ് എന്ന ഫിലോസഫി ആണ് നമ്മുടെ അതിനിടക്ക് MTR.. പോണ വഴിക്കു അഡയാർ ആനന്ദ ഭവൻ കണ്ടാൽ ഞാൻ കേറും എന്ന് ഞാൻ അവരോടു ഒന്ന് സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു വെച്ച്.. നല്ല ദോശ, പൂരി, കാപ്പി ഒക്കെ കിട്ടും.. രാവിലെ ഏഴു ആയപ്പം തന്നെ നമ്മൾ റെഡി ആയി പാർക്കിങ്ങിൽ എത്തി. രണ്ടു ഫാമിലി റെഡി ആരുന്നു.. ബാക്കി ഉള്ളവർ പതുക്കെ പതുക്കെ വന്നു.. ഏഴര ആയപ്പം കുറച്ചു പേര് വന്നിട്ടില്ല എന്നാലും നമ്മൾ പതുക്കെ ഇറങ്ങി ... പോയ വഴിക്കു നമുക്ക് അഡയാർ ആനന്ദ ഭവൻ കിട്ടി. നല്ല ഫുഡ് അടിച്ചു.. മനസ്സും വയറും നിറഞ്ഞു.

നമ്മൾ ഫുഡ് ഒക്കെ അടിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു.. ഒരു 15 കിലോമീറ്റർ കൂടി കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ള MTR ലേക്ക് ചെന്നു.. ചിലരൊക്കെ കഴിക്കുന്നു.. ചിലർ ഓർഡർ ചെയ്യുന്നു.. നമ്മൾ എല്ലാവരും കുറെ സമയം അവിടെ ചിലവഴിച്ചു. 

അടുത്ത ഡെസ്റ്റിനേഷൻ - മേക്കഡാത്തു. 

കുറച്ചു നേരത്തെ ഡ്രൈവിന് ശേഷം നമ്മൾ മേക്കഡാത്തു എത്താറായി.. പച്ചപ്പും ഹരിതാഭയും പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചു ഇരുന്ന നമ്മുടെ മുന്നിൽ.. ഉണങ്ങി കരിഞ്ഞ മരങ്ങൾ...തരിശു ഭൂമി മുതലായവ കണ്ടു തുടങ്ങി.. വീണ്ടും 

നമ്മുടെ ഹോട്ടൽ എത്തി.. ആ നഗ്ന സത്യം ഞങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കി.. അവിടെ ആകെ ഉള്ള ഒരേ ഒരു കെട്ടിടം.. ഈ ഹോട്ടൽ മാത്രമാണ്.. ബാക്കി എന്തേലും കാണണേൽ ഒരു 10-15 കിലോമീറ്റർ പുറകോട്ടു വന്ന വഴിക്കു പോണം. പിന്നെ ഫോൺ നു റേഞ്ച് ഇല്ല, അത് കൊണ്ട് ആരേം വിളിക്കണ്ട, ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് 2100 ഇൽ  അവിടെ എത്താൻ എലോൺ മസ്ക് വിചാരിക്കണം 

ഹോട്ടൽ ഇന്റെ പരിസരത്തു എങ്ങും ആരും ഇല്ല. അത് കൊണ്ട് പാർക്കിംഗ് എന്ന് എഴുതിയേക്കുന്ന വഴിക്കു പോയി പാർക്ക് ചെയ്തു. ഒരു പ്രായം ഉള്ള മനുഷ്യൻ ഓടി വന്നു കന്നടയിൽ ചായ വേണോന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.. 17 വര്ഷം ആയല്ലോ.. അത് കൊണ്ട് .. ഞാൻ കന്നടയിൽ മറുപടി കൊടുത്തു.. ബേഡപ്പ ...അടുത്ത് നിന്ന് രാധിക പതുക്കെ പറഞ്ഞു .. നിങ്ങളോടു ചായ വേണോന്നല്ല ചോദിച്ചത്.. അയാൾക്ക്‌ ചായ കുടിക്കാൻ കാശു കൊടുക്കാവോന്നാ ചോദിച്ചേ...ഇവിടെ പഴേ ലിപി ആരിക്കും.. എനിക്കറിയാവുന്ന കന്നഡ ഇങ്ങനെ അല്ല ..അവിടെ മുഴുവൻ കുരങ്ങുകൾ ഓടി നടന്നു അലമ്പ് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.. ഇങ്ങേർക്ക് പൈസ കൊടുത്തില്ലേൽ പുള്ളി തന്നെ കുറെ കുരങ്ങിനെ കാറിൽ കേറ്റി ഇരുത്തും 

കുറെ നേരം കാത്തു ഇരുന്നപ്പം ഹോട്ടലിലെ ജോലിക്കാരെ കണ്ടു.. ഐഡി കാർഡ് ഒന്നും വേണ്ട.. ചുമ്മാതെ എന്തേലും ഒക്കെ എഴുതി വെച്ചാ മതി..റൂം സാനിറ്റയ്സ് ചെയ്തു തരാവോ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചപ്പം ഒരു ചെറിയ ഹാൻഡ് വാഷ് എടുത്തു കാണിച്ചു.. നമുക്ക് ഏകദേശം ഒരു ഐഡിയ കിട്ടി .. പിന്നെ നമ്മൾ തന്നെ കൊണ്ട് വന്ന സാനിടൈസർ ഒരു പമ്പ് ഒക്കെ വെച്ച് എല്ലാ മുറിയിലും അടിച്ചു...മൊത്തം സേഫ് ആക്കി.. ഇനി പതുക്കെ പോയി ഫുഡ് കഴിക്കാം എന്ന് നമ്മൾ വിചാരിച്ചപ്പം.. ബാക്കി ഉള്ള എല്ലാവരും നദിയിലേക്കു ചാടാൻ പോകുവാന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.. നട്ടുച്ച..ഒരു 39 ഡിഗ്രീ ചൂട്.. ഇതിപ്പം എനിക്കു വട്ടായതാണോ അതോ നാട്ടുകാർക്ക് മൊത്തം വട്ടായതാണോ 

നമ്മൾ സാധാരണ എവിടെ പോയാലും അധികം സ്ഥലം കാണൽ ഒന്നും ഇല്ല.. മാക്സിമം സമയം റസ്റ്റ് എടുക്കൽ ഫുഡ് അടിക്കൽ അതാണ് പരുപാടി.. ഇപ്പം മനസ്സിലായി.. കുഴപ്പം എന്റെ ആണെന്ന്.

നമ്മൾ എന്തായാലും കഴിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.. ആകെ ഒരു ഹോട്ടൽ.. ആ പരിസരത്തു വേറെ ഓപ്ഷൻ ഒന്നും ഇല്ല. ഫ്രൈഡ് റൈസ്, ഗോബി മഞ്ചൂരിയൻ , ലൈം ജ്യൂസ്, ലസ്സി ... മോശം പറയരുതല്ലോ.. ലൈം ജ്യൂസ്, ഫ്രൈഡ് റൈസ്..ഇത് രണ്ടും തരക്കേടില്ലാരുന്നു. ഗോബി മഞ്ചൂരിയൻ ഒരു മാതിരി പുളി വെള്ളം കലക്കിയ പോലത്തെ സാധനം..ലസ്സി ആരുന്നു ഹൈ ലൈറ്റ് - മോരും വെള്ളത്തിൽ പഞ്ചസാര കലക്കിയ ഒരു ഐറ്റം... അമ്മോ.. ഓർക്കുമ്പോഴേ വാളാകും ..ഇത്രയും മോശം ഫുഡ് കൊടുത്തു ഈ ഹോട്ടൽ എങ്ങനെ തുടരുന്നു എന്ന് നമ്മൾ ചിന്തിച്ചു...ഒന്ന് മൊണോപൊളി .. വേറെ ഓപ്‌ഷൻ അവിടില്ല..രണ്ടാമത്തേത്.. ഇവിടെ ഒരിക്കൽ വരുന്നവൻ വീണ്ടും വരാൻ ഉള്ള സാധ്യത ഞാൻ കാണുന്നില്ല .. ഒരു തവണ പറ്റിച്ചാൽ മതിയല്ലോ ..അന്നേരവും എനിക്ക് മനസ്സിലാവാത്തത്.. പണ്ട് ഇവിടെ വന്ന ഒരുത്തൻ എന്ത് കൊണ്ട് ഈ സ്ഥലം വീണ്ടും സജെസ്റ് ചെയ്തു എന്നുള്ളതാരുന്നു 

ഫുഡ് കഴിഞ്ഞു.. നമ്മൾ നേരെ നദിയിലേക്ക് ചെന്നു .. നേരത്തെ ഫുൾ സാനിടൈസ് ചെയ്‌തു നടന്ന ടീമ്സ് ഒക്കെ മാസ്കും ഇല്ല.. ഒന്നും ഇല്ല.. എല്ലാം വെള്ളത്തിൽ കിടപ്പുണ്ട്.. അധികം ആഴം ഒന്നും ഇല്ല.. ചെറിയ ഒഴുക്കും ഉണ്ട്..നോക്കിയപ്പം മൊത്തം ഒരു 50 പേര് കാണും ആ സ്ഥലത്തു.. കുറേപ്പേര് കുളിക്കുന്നു.. പിന്നെ പട്ടികളും കുരങ്ങും ഒക്കെ ഉണ്ട് വെള്ളത്തിൽ.. ഇവിടം സജെസ്റ് ചെയ്ത മച്ചാൻ വന്ന വഴിക്കു ഒരു ചൂണ്ട ഒക്കെ വാങ്ങിയാ വന്നത് .. അവിടുത്തെ ആളുകൾ പറഞ്ഞു.. ചൂണ്ട ഇടൽ ബാൻഡ് ആണെന്ന്.. അത് കൊണ്ട് പുള്ളി ചൂണ്ട ഇടാൻ കൊണ്ട് വന്ന ഇര ഒക്കെ എടുത്തു മീനിനു ഇട്ടു കൊടുത്തു.. ഹാപ്പി ആയിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. അവിടുത്തെ ആ ആൾക്കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഒരാൾക്ക് അസുഖം ഉണ്ടാരുന്നേൽ മൊത്തത്തിൽ പടർന്നേനെ.. ഇതിപ്പം 2-3 ആഴ്ച ആയി.. ഇത് വരെ കുഴപ്പം ഒന്നും ഇല്ല..

തിരിച്ചു റൂമിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ആണ് കണ്ടത്.. നമ്മൾ എത്രത്തോളം പ്രകൃതിയോട് ഇണങ്ങി ആണ് ജീവിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന്. റൂമിന്റെ മുന്നിൽ ഒരു കടന്നാൽ കൂട് ..ഒരു സൈഡിൽ കൊറോണ, മറ്റേ സൈഡിൽ കടന്നൽ ..ബാക്കി നല്ല ചൂട്, അലമ്പ് ഫുഡ്.. മൊത്തത്തിൽ അടിപൊളി സെറ്റപ്പ്. ആകെ അവിടെ കാണാൻ ഉള്ള ഒരേ ഒരു സംഭവം ഒരു വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം ആണ്.. ചുഞ്ചി ഫോൾസ് ..വൈകിട്ടു അത് കാണാൻ പോയി.. വണ്ടി എത്തുന്ന സ്ഥലം കഴിഞ്ഞു ഒരു 500 മീറ്റർ നടപ്പുണ്ട്.. മൊത്തം കേറ്റം, ചൂട്, കൊച്ചിനെ എടുക്കണം.. ആഹാ അന്തസ്സ് !!! നമ്മൾ എല്ലാരും നടന്നു കേറി ചെന്നു .. ചുറ്റും നോക്കീട്ടും ഒന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല. അവസാനം ഒരു പാറയുടെ മുകളിൽ വലിഞ്ഞു കേറിയപ്പം കാണാൻ പറ്റി ...താഴെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു നോക്കിയാൽ കാണാം..അഭിമാന പുരസ്സരം കാഴ്ച വെക്കുന്നു..ചുഞ്ചി 

വീണ്ടും തിരിച്ചു വന്നു.. രാത്രിയിലെ ഫുഡ്.. ഉച്ചക്ക് പലരും കഴിച്ചതിൽ നിന്നും വെല്യ തരക്കേടില്ലാത്ത സാധനങ്ങൾ എല്ലാരും പറഞ്ഞു.. അങ്ങനെ വെല്യ കുഴപ്പം ഇല്ലാണ്ട് പോയി.. വാതിൽ തുറന്നാൽ ഒരു സെക്കൻഡ് കൊണ്ട് ഒരു 10 കടന്നൽ റൂമിനകത്തു കേറും..  റൂം ഏതായാലും a/c ആരുന്നു.. പതിവില്ലാതെ കുറെ നടന്നു.. വെയിലു കൊണ്ട് ക്ഷീണിച്ചു.. സൊ എല്ലാവരും നല്ലവണ്ണം ഉറങ്ങി.. 

രാവിലെ നോക്കിയപ്പം ഒരു കാറിന്റെ ടയർ പങ്ക്ച്ചർ ആയി.. ഏറ്റവും അടുത്ത പങ്ക്ച്ചർ ഒട്ടിക്കുന്ന കട - പതിനഞ്ചു കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരെയാണത്രെ.. രാവിലെ ബ്രേക്ഫാസ്റ് കഴിക്കാൻ ചെന്നപ്പം ആകെ ഉള്ള ഓപ്‌ഷൻസ് - ലെമൺ റൈസ് , ഉപ്പുമാവ്, പിന്നെ ബ്രഡ് ഓംലെറ്റ് ... ബ്രഡ് ഓംലെറ്റ് ...ഉള്ളത് കൊണ്ട് മാത്രം മൂഡ് പോയില്ല.. അത് കഴിച്ചു ..നേരെ വിട്ടു തിരിച്ചു വീട്ടിലേക്കു.. വീട്ടിൽ കേറി.. ആഹഹ ജോൺസൺ മാസ്റ്ററിന്റെ പാട്ടും കേട്ട് ചെറിയൊരു മഴയും കണ്ടോണ്ടു ഒരു കാപ്പീം കുടിച്ചു ഇരിക്കുന്ന സുഖം.. പക്ഷെ എന്റെ സംശയം തീർന്നില്ല.. ഒരിക്കൽ പോയ ഈ അളിഞ്ഞ സ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് വീണ്ടും എങ്ങനെ പോകാൻ തോന്നി.. ഇത് സജെസ്റ് ചെയ്ത സുഹൃത്തിനു?

കവിയും കലാകാരനും ആയാലും ഒരു വെറൈറ്റി ഐറ്റം വേണ്ടേ?

ദക്ഷിത്തിന്‌ ഇപ്പോൾ നാലര വയസ്സായി. വൈദേഹി എന്നൊരു സ്കൂളിൽ LKG ഇൽ പഠിക്കുന്നു. എന്നും എന്തെങ്കിലും ഒക്കെ ഇവെന്റ്സ് കാണും, മത്സരം കാണും... മൊത്തം തിരക്കാണ്. പക്ഷെ പുള്ളി സ്കൂളിൽ പോകാൻ വൻ ഹാപ്പിയാണ് ..ആകെ ഉള്ള ടെൻഷൻ ബേക്കറി, ചോക്ലേറ്റ്, പിസ്സ,  ഐസ് ക്രീം .. ഇങ്ങനെ കുറെ കാര്യങ്ങൾ മാത്രം...ഇവിടെ ഡാൻസ് പഠിത്തം ഉണ്ട്.. ഇടക്ക് അപ്പാർട്മെന്റിലും സ്കൂളിലും ഷോപ്പിംഗ് മോളിലും ഒക്കെ പോയി ഡാൻസ് കളിക്കുകേം ചെയ്തു.. എൻ്റെ അമ്മ പറഞ്ഞതു സ്റ്റേജ് ഇവനൊരു ഹരം ആണെന്നാ.. സ്റ്റേജ് ഫ്രൈറ്റ്, ടെൻഷൻ ഇതൊന്നും അറിയാൻ മാത്രം ഉള്ള പ്രായം ആയിട്ടില്ലാത്തതു കൊണ്ടാണോ എന്നറിയില്ല.. ഇതൊന്നും ഇല്ല.. ആകെ ടെൻഷൻ മുന്നേ പറഞ്ഞ തീറ്റ സാധനങ്ങൾ വേണ്ടപ്പോൾ കിട്ടുന്നുണ്ടോ എന്ന് മാത്രം

അങ്ങനെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോ സ്കൂളിൽ നിന്നു ഒരു അറിയിപ്പ് വന്നു.. ഒക്ടോബർ അവസാനം ഒരു ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് റൈo കോമ്പറ്റിഷൻ ഉണ്ടെന്നു. അത്യാവശ്യം മെമ്മറി പവർ ഒക്കെ ഇവനു ഉണ്ടെന്നു തോന്നിയത് കൊണ്ട് അവന്റെ അമ്മ ഒരു വെറൈറ്റി ഐറ്റം പിടിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു ..സാധാരണ ആരും കേക്കാത്ത കുറച്ചു ടഫ് ആയ ഒരു പാട്ടു .. കുറെ തപ്പി തപ്പി അവസാനം കണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു.. ഒരു 20-25 ലൈൻസ് കാണും...river, mountain, tree, rain, ocean ഇതെല്ലാം ഉള്ള ഒരു പാട്ട് - ലിങ്ക് - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVYbFOvbNd4

2-3 ദിവസം കൊണ്ട് കഥാ നായകൻ ഇതെല്ലാം അത്യാവശ്യം പഠിച്ചു ..ഇടക്ക് ഇടക്ക് ഇത് പാടിപ്പിക്കും .. അവൻ്റെ ടെൻഷനു കാരണമായ സാധനങ്ങൾ വെച്ചാണ് വില പേശൽ ..അത് കൊണ്ട് മാത്രം അവൻ ഓരോ തവണയും പാടും .. ഇതു കേട്ടു കേട്ടു ഞാനും, രാധികേം, അമ്മേം അവൻ്റെ അനിയത്തി (ഒരു വയസ്സ്) വരെ ഇതു മുഴുവൻ കാണാതെ പഠിച്ചു .. നമ്മൾ ജഡ്ജസിനെ പോലെ ഓരോ തവണയും ഫീഡ്ബാക്ക് കൊടുക്കും..ശ്രുതി, പിച്ച് , ടെമ്പോ ഒന്നും അല്ല..ആകെ 3-4 കാര്യങ്ങൾ

Early Morning Biriyani at Hoskote

We had a long weekend due to parliament election, good friday etc. So our apartment mates were going for a regular 2 hour morning badminton. One day I saw some messages in the group asking whether we can go for the Hoskote Biriyani on Sunday. I didn't mind too much into those chats, until someone pointed out that we need to reach the shop before 9:00 AM, as the shop is getting closed by that time. That rejuvenated my curiosity quotient and decided to explore more on that. Surprisingly, a lot of travel bloggers and others already posted a lot about the Hoskote Biriyani. Some of the information which I gathered are -
1. There are 2 major shops - Anand and Mani at Hoskote.
2. They are operating for the past 15+ years.
3. They start their biriyani preparation from night 2 AM onwards.
4. The preparation is only using firewood.
5. The shop is operational from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM
6. They serve only Mutton Biriyani
7. It's open only 3 days a week (Tuesday, Friday, Sunday)
8. All these days, they prepare 200Kgs of rice, which is equivalent to 1400 plates (Not sure on the authenticity of this statement)
9. All payments are by cash mode only
10. We can get parcel. If we need to eat there, we may need to stand and eat or take the plates outside of the shop and eat.

These information created more interest in me and I also decided to join the group. We were 10 people and went by 2 cars from Whitefield to Hoskote. It was around 15 kilometers and a pleasant drive in the morning. From Whitefield, we need to cross HopeFarm signal and go through Kadugodi and go towards the end of the road, then take a right. We reached the place by 6:45 AM after crossing the toll plaza.

When we reached there, we could see a large parking space available (open parking), which is almost full with lots of bikes and cars. A lot of young crowd was there and many started eating!! 

Yes, they were eating Mutton Biriyani at 6:45 AM, by standing in a queue for getting the food and taking the plate outside.

There is a queue for getting the tokens. It's only cash payment there. For the number of biriyanis, we need to pay the cash and we will get a token instead in the first queue. The rates of the biriyani was mentioned as Rs. 190 and for half biriyani, its Rs. 150. It was also mentioned that they don't have any branches - Novelty !!

After the first queue, there are 2 separate queues, one for taking parcel and the other for having it there. Earlier we read that, they are not providing any containers for parcel and we had to carry, so we had our containers with us. But that was not true and they were providing the parcel in the aluminium foil containers. Since we had the containers, they gave the parcel in that.

When we enter the shop, the left side queue was for parcel and the right side queue was for having it there. They are processing quite fast. The shop doesn't look very cozy and looks very average or even below.

But, I liked the biriyani and the mutton very much, it was really good. For me, it looked like they had created a niche by providing this in the early morning and they limited the supply similar to the Mi flash sales which created more curiosity and in-turn more demand. The word of mouth spread very fast and I could see a lot of bike travellers and families over there. 

We also had the Paya Soup (Mutton Leg Soup). They had the options for having it with/without the leg piece. The raita/salad was served in a separate place within the shop. The soup, chicken curry, white rice etc. were sold separately within the shop. Not sure, if that's part of Anand or given the space for rent separately. 

Overall, a nice experience in having some tasty biriyani early in the morning (btw, I just had a half biriyani from there and took 2 biriyanis parcel). This can be useful, if someone is coming over from our hometown to Bangalore and if they wanted to try out something different.

In Kerala, the young generation is having quite a good amount of disposable income and they are looking for varieties - This idea can be utilized. Wagamon kind of places, wherein people are going for a trip on bikes and cars or even a place like Kumarakom, where a lot of tourism is there, people can start something like this - Creating a niche and limiting the supply to create the demand and rest will be taken care by the social media and word of mouth. But as always, food is a very risky business!!!

Role of Product Management in India GICs

I got an opportunity to attend a session on the roles of the Product Management in India Global In-house Centers (GIC) on March 8, 2018 at Bangalore. The event was organized by Zinnov at the Citrix campus in Ulsoor Road.

Fun Fact – The moment I am hearing about Citrix, a few things will come to my mind. 3-4 of my friends are working there now and 3-4 were working earlier (both cases, across the globe including UK and USA). And in one of our recent deployments, we were using the Citrix clients to connect to our central servers from our remote locations. But more importantly, there is another case. When I was in Huawei, back in 2006 – one of my junior went for an interview at Citrix. Almost everyone from Huawei used to join Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, Citrix, NSN, Lucent etc. that time. So this gentleman went for the interview and got selected over there. In the HR round, he asked for a 100% hike. To his (in fact all of our as well) surprise, the HR came back saying, they won’t be able to give that amount. The reason is that, it may require the approval from 2 of their VPs and the HR need to specify why they are going beyond the normal band for this candidate. So they told they are giving 200% hike, so that it will be within their band. 

Note – Not sure, how much is true in the above case. At least this is what all of us at that time heard.

Background – Zinnov did some detailed study/analysis/data collection on the above mentioned topic and they had a lot of interviewing sessions with some of the major GICs in India. If I am not wrong, this is the link regarding the same. Zinnov hosted this event with the co-operation from Citrix and the event was attended by ~50 PMs in and around Bangalore.

There were 2 sessions – One was presented by one of the representative from Zinnov, majorly regarding the data analysis which they did. That was informative and below is some of the areas which they touched upon. Number of GICs which are having a PM role in India is very less and the number of PMs in the entire industry is even lower. There is a transition happening in the way, PM reporting structure in the company. Earlier it was under the VP, Technology and now it’s a separate division, parallel to the engineering. There is a transition from the old age PMs to the new age PMs. The transition includes SaaSification, Data Analytics etc. Also the major activities performed by the PMs in Indian GICs are managing the product roadmaps, Engineering Requirements, Marketing Plans, Presentations and Demos, Helping in reducing the turnaround time for the clarifications from engineering, supporting the sales/support teams, conceptualizing new ideas, working with the UX/Engineering/Business teams simultaneously etc.

The second session was given by Abhilash Verma, Senior Director Product Management at Citrix. This was one of the best presentations I attended in my whole life. I was just analyzing what was so good in his talk: - He was not talking the best vocabulary; he was not having the fanciest slides. But what he talked for that 1.5+ hours was connecting so well to his audience. Each and every one in that room (or at least a majority of us) was correlating themselves and 90% of the statements were our own incidents. He connected so well to the other PMs in the room. His content was brilliant and was having a smooth and wonderful flow and is having a pleasing personality.

Some of the pointers which I could recollect are given below – This includes the lessons from my current director as well.

• Almost all the GICs in India are doing more or less the same job as part of the Product Management role. This includes working closely with the huge engineering base in India, representing the customer, playing the liaison role between engineering, customer and business, maintaining the product road map, providing the user stories (agile) or the requirement documents, detailing the use cases and the user scenarios, identifying new business opportunities, making the life of the customer easy etc.
• India PMs have the advantage of working with the engineering group. Try to leverage that advantage.
• Try to learn each and every area associated to your product.
• Own everything associated to your product.
• It’s okay to have failures. Then only we will learn. Learn from your mistakes.
• PMs should be self-motivated and shall have the passion to make their products world class.
• If someone is forcing you to take a call at 11PM, then you are not fit for the job. It should come within (the sense of ownership).
• Try to engage as much as possible with your head office counterparts, as they are into a lot of customer meetings.
• Always be updated about your customers, market, competition, new entrants etc.
• Build the products for tomorrow, not today.
• We need product leaders and not managers.
• Credibility building across the teams may take some time.
• You should be able to join the dots and arrive at some conclusions fast.
• You should be able to take decisions about your product. It shouldn’t get pass you to the next person.
• You should not be waiting for the instructions. It’s our product, own it to the core.
• Always prepare well and write the required statements before the meetings with engineering.
• It’s common, even if you are not known about the launching of your product.
• Don’t try to sell your product. It’s the sales team’s job. You are trying to venture into someone else’s forte. Always be ready to help them in the sales meetings with the PM pitches.
• Don’t try to educate the Development or QA. It’s their area and they are the best for that job.
• Customer is the key in every business.
• Three teams which are very important for your project, other than the engineering are support, sales and documentation. These three teams are exposed with the customers and always work very closely with them.
• Always make sure that you have the backing up from Engineering, Sales, Support teams.
• Listen the Golden Circle speech by Simon Sinek - Link :- Always think of why, then how and finally what.
• From the product road map management, you need to slowly move towards product strategy.
• Don’t waste any opportunity in meeting and knowing customers well (including trade shows).
• Love the challenges coming your way. If there are no challenges, you are not doing something correct.
• Lastly, but more importantly – you may need to fake your confidence at some stages.

Conclusion - In short, it’s not the usage of any technology or methodology which determines your success as a PM. Everything is boiling down to your passion towards this job, your willingness to do/perform a task and your ownership associated with your product. This is true for each and everything we do. Also, it’s okay to take chances and having failures. Always learn from your failures and have the complete ownership of your product to make it a world class product.

FASTag - It's easy and convenient

What is FASTag - FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India, operated by the National Highway Authority of India. It employs Radio Frequency Identification technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid or savings account linked to it.

How to get FASTag for your vehicle - You can buy FASTag online from Paytm Mall. Just search for FASTag in the website and you can see the details as shown below.

You need to fill in your details and make the payment.

What are the procedures involved in getting the FASTag in hand - After paying the required amount, you need to wait 1-2 days and you will receive an SMS stating that, you need to upload the soft copy image of your RC card/RC Book with a link. Open the link in browser and upload the RC image as mentioned. It may take another 1-2 days to have your FASTag account getting activated. Once everything is ready (normally 4-5 days after making the payment), you will receive the FASTag by courier to your mailing address. Since the FASTag is radio active, the cover is generally made of aluminium foil.

Where to place the FASTag - Just follow the instructions, as mentioned in the FASTag parcel. Generally, the sticker will be placed behind the rear view mirror of your vehicle.

How to transfer money to your FASTag account - When you buy the FASTag using your Paytm account, an amount of Rs.150/- will be added to your FASTag account. You can see this transaction in your Paytm wallet transaction history as shown below.

After this initial transaction, you cannot transfer any amount into your FASTag account. Instead you just need to make sure that, there is enough balance available in your Paytm wallet account. Money is getting transferred automatically from your Paytm wallet to FASTag account, as and when you pass through a toll. Every time, there has to be a minimum of Rs. 150 in your FASTag account. (I believe the amount 150 is for cars and depending on the size of the vehicle, this amount varies)

You can see the details of your FASTag transactions in the FASTag transaction history section. Till your first toll transaction, this section will be empty. This section will not be having the transaction related to the first 150 and it will have only toll related information.

Also please make sure that the manage FASTag section is displaying your FASTag as active before your travel 

At the toll plaza, always look for FASTag lane and it's generally very smooth, as good as no stoppage. It was a pleasure for us in our last trip to Yellagiri, as we didn't lose a single minute in THREE + THREE = SIX toll plazas (to and fro)

Formalities involved in closing the Maxgain Home Loan Account at SBI

Given below are the steps which we had followed while closing the Home Loan (Maxgain) @ SBI.
1. Book balance is the amount which you are owing to the bank, if you look at your online account.
2. Make sure, you have enough balance to pay off the loan in your savings account.(Extra interest amount needs to be anticipated while closing the loan).
3. Visit the bank on your preferred time (Even if there is a co-applicant for the loan, he/she is not mandatory at  this stage).
4. Hand over the closure request letter. (Make sure you are carrying all the homeloan related documents and a cheque book of your savings - though it's not mandatory).
5. Bank officer will calculate the remaining amount and will transfer the amount from your savings bank account.
6. Once the loan is closed, the bank will provide you with a closure letter.
7. The closure letter need to be produced at the RACPC branch, where your original documents are present.
8. Generally, we can book for an appointment over the phone at the RACPC.
9. On the date of the appointment, visit the branch (with your co-applicant,  if any). If the co-applicant cannot come for this, you need to get an authorization letter from the co-applicant.
10. Make sure, you are cancelling the further EMI deductions.
11. SBI officer will handover all the original documents of your property. All the applicants need to sign there. (Or hand over the authorization letter).
12. If the loan is more than 20 lacs, generally there will be a mortgage associated with it.
13. We need to cancel the mortgage. SBI will give a request for that.
14. Visit the registrar office with the mortgage cancellation request.
15. You may also need to get a fresh Encumbrance certificate issued for the property.
16. All the applicants are required to be present for this.
16. You may need couple of witnesses for signing this.
17. Pay the required fees and collect the required documents.

Second Quarter got completed

July 29 - we had 1 exam. July 30 - We had 2 more exams. And the final 2 exams happened on August 6. Exams were okay similar to the first quarter. Most of the exams were for 1:45 hrs to 2 hrs duration and the Corporate Information Management was for 1:10 hrs only. The timing was a bit tough for that and lot of questions were there to answer. Personally, I liked the question pattern of Economic Environment, since it was expecting to write pointed answers and some latest general knowledge topics related to economics were also asked. Business Law was also a nice question paper, though I am not sure, if my answers were right or not. Though I am not very fond of Finance related subjects, SSS Kumar sir was one of the best teachers who taught us in this quarter.
Enjoyed reading the slides of CIM, as many topics were of my areas of interest. Glad that we could do the analysis of Amazon as part of the CIM project, got to learn a lot of things in that.

Took a few days of leave before the exams and I am still surprised that, I am trying to study a lot by putting in long hours. Though I was in a locked room, Dakshith used to knock at the door and shout 'Achaaa..' once in a while.

Support from family and office is very keen in this journey and luckily it's going well for me. Quarter 2, I had some bad scores with some quizzes. Quiz scores, Attendance, Project - If you made it good with these things, then more than half of the job is done. Realized that, these are very important after getting the quarter 1 results :).

Quarter 1 Results came and it was good. Since it's a relative grading, even if you have more marks in certain subjects, you may get lesser grades when compared to another subject. Really shocked with 1 participant mark in Finance in quarter 1. Got to know that marks up to 83 got an A- and we were wondering what is the mark for A+ and later realized that the topper got 96. That's some talent and brilliant I must say.

Its fun to see the chat messages happening in whatsapp groups after the exam results and I am pretty sure, there would be some set of participants who is keeping a low profile and scoring very heavy and the rest of the group is unaware. May be after a few more quarters, we might get some more details.

For the people who are thinking of taking this course or not - A few information from my experience.
1. It's time consuming.
2. You need to sacrifice your time for a better result.
3. No Weekends
4. You will get a lot of self satisfaction (at least I am getting).
5. You will enjoy learning (at least, I am enjoying).
6. You will realize the amount of time, you were wasting earlier :)
7. More and more people are doing it from premium B schools nowadays.
8. Price is increasing every year. Sooner the better.
9. You will get to see some of the best teachers available in the country.
10. You will get to see some of the brilliant and experienced people in the country and a strong network as well.

I may plan to start writing the book, once the course is over. 

Done with the first quarter

We are done with the first quarter of EPGP-09 @ IIM-K. Five papers, their exams, assignments and the project works are almost completed. Most of the project work were group activities and we were FOUR in our group. Nithin, Ginu, Deepak and myself. Before joining the course, I was thinking that, this won't be hectic and is easily manageable. The IIM-K faculties told couple of things during the in campus module - 1) You wont realize how fast the time flies in the next 2 years 2) You will realize that you were wasting a lot of quality time earlier. Both those things came true. 4-5 months already gone so fast and I am realizing that I was having lot of free time earlier. The decision to do this course was definitely one of the best decisions I took. Now I am getting a feeling that, I am learning something new everyday.

Some of the friends who joined for this course left it in midway. Some of them stopped right after the in campus module and some other left after the first quarter. A few of them are joining other IIM's EPGP courses.

This week our second quarter classes have started. Coming weekend, there is no class. That's a huge luxury nowadays. Planning to go somewhere, as this wont happen so often in the next couple of years. After couple more weeks, weekly quiz, assignment and projects will again start for the second quarter.

Quiz was one of the best thing happened in quarter 1. Most of the topics were covered in the quiz and the topics were not alien to us during the time of the exams. The way all the process is conducted by IIM-K, is a very thoughtful and brilliant procedure.

Regarding the first quarter exams, Qualitative Techniques professor had shared some question patterns and most of the questions were similar to that pattern. Managerial Communication professors questions were pure application side - you should know the theory well and then you should apply that in the exam. Accounting was having mainly numerical problem solving and some very less amount of theory. Organizational behavior was also similar to Managerial Communication, but some amount of theoretical questions were also there. Managerial Economics was having a lot of Multiple Choice Questions and some theoretical questions. Not sure, when the results will be out.

This quarter, we should target to complete the projects as early as poss ible. Else towards the end, everything will pile up. Quarter 1, we had completed 70-80% of the Managerial Economics project quite early and that really helped us.

Another news is that EPGP-10, the fee is 10 Lacs, an increase of 2 Lacs compared to us (EPGP-09).

EPGP 09 @ IIM K

So finally I took that decision of taking an executive MBA. I cannot afford in going for a full time executive MBA from a good institute. First of all, the course itself is too costly and secondly, my 1 or 2 year of salary also will not be coming in. So it's a really huge investment and I cannot afford. So, I was looking for multiple other options and was discussing with some of my friends as well. IIM K (Kozhikode) announced their 9th batch program in September 2016. Based on my research, I realized that, they introduced this program in the premier business institute sector and this is the 9th batch in offering. More than that, IIM K is the 5th IIM in India, started way back in 1996. Going for this kind of a course in an IIM is having its own merits in terms of a brand value and the availability of eminent professors. The cost involved is around 8 lacs and the time frame is roughly 2 years. Tried to get some more information from the internet and the only source other than the IIM K website was Vinay Bhutani's blog, which was an older EPGP program a few years ago. Though I didn't get much information, I still decided to pursue with the admission process.

My main agenda or purpose was 1) Making a network of some experienced professionals, 2) Learning the industry proven managerial methods, 3) Overcoming my own negatives/inhibitions, 4) Getting a good brand, 5) Learn something new and bring in some change rather than doing the same stuff at office and 6) Try applying  the learned stuff in my personal and professional life.

I paid the registration fee of Rs.2500 and sent all the required documents to IIM K. There was a test which is called EMAT which is conducted by IIM K and followed by an interview. I just looked at some of the old question papers available in the IIM K website and prepared around that. I realized that, though we used to do these analytical questions quite fast during the engineering final year times, now it's taking a lot of time. I was mainly focusing on finding the right answer or omitting the wrong answer, depending on the question/situation.

The Test/Interview was on a Saturday in December 2016 at a hotel in Bangalore. I went with a formal dress code to the hotel a bit early and there was one gentle man who was sitting in the room wearing a blazer. Initially I thought, he would be the one who is taking the interviews and later realized, he is also a candidate.  After some time, others also reached. I believe, there was some 40 - 45 people at the venue. Some were in formal dress, some were in too much formal, almost like business attire, some others were less/semi formal and a few were very casual.Slowly, the test started and it was 40 multiple choice questions which includes quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal etc. Except the questions which are related to English language, it was quite easy for me. I finished with some 7-8 minutes to spare. Synonyms/Antonyms section was difficult. Forget the question, even the four choices in the answers were alien to me. I was sure that, if there is a section cut off for English, I will not clear this test, else I will clear without any issues.

Soon after the test, I was called inside for the interview. There were 2 gentlemen in the panel, both of them are IIM K professors. .After the normal introduction related questions, most of the remaining session was related to checking the fact, if I know what my company's business is, what is the revenue, potential growth etc. That side went well, except for one question. They started with marketing and sales and finally came to a question "why is petrol not getting marketed?" My answers were not convincing for myself. The interview was very short, may be under 10 minutes.

I was having the hope that, if there is no section cut off for English, this is done. Within a week, I went to Nagaworld Casino, Cambodia for some business discussions. On the way back, I got the message/email that, I got selected for the EPGP 09 at IIM K.

I paid the initial fee of 98000 in the first week of January and there is an in-campus module from 16 - 21 of January. I traveled to Kozhikode in car on a Sunday morning through Kudalur, Kalpetta etc. I had my booking confirmed at Hotel Maharani, near Palayam.

Loved the hotel. Its in the city, it's an old hotel with very nice employees, decently priced and nice food. On the third day of the stay, I saw Director Ranjith at Maharani. Heard from a friend that, Maharani was one of the oldest BIG hotels in Kozhikode and all the celebrities used to stay here.
Loved the city, its so well developed, all the people are having a helping mentality, less pollution, beautiful. I decided that I should come with Radhika and Dakshith for vacation. There are beaches, art events, good food options. Today me, Suraj and Abhilash went to the Kozhikode beach and then to 'Dhe Puttu'. Yesterday, it was more fun with a small party with 6 people including Saikat and Avinash as well. At the college also, met a lot of nice and similar minded friends.

The IIM K Experience
First of all, its a beautiful campus of around 100 acres and is around 10 kms away from Kozhikode town at a place called Kunnamangalam, which is a hilly area. After the test/interview they offered the admission to 220 students and 180 turned up. Average experience is around 9.5 years and it includes people from various industries. But the major population is from Engineering. Bangalore/Mumbai are leading with maximum number of participants. Most of the experience group is from 5 to 15. And there are 6 people who are more than 20 years experienced.

Till now, a total of 6-7 professors came to our class and taught various subjects. Each and every professor, exceeded my expectations by miles. They are very passionate, very down to earth, huge experience level, gigantic energy level, and very much approachable. The confidence, they gave in the initial days is beyond most of our imaginations. Some of the subjects which are dry and was expecting a dull class, turned out to be one of the best we attended in our whole life. Most of the classes till now were better than some of the best classes/presentations I attended in my life. We started understanding the reason, why is this called an IIM and why these professors are into teaching.

One thing I noted, but not sure if this is True - Most of the professors are having a very pleasant face, their body language is telling that they are approachable, their voice modulation changes suddenly, they are using a lot of extra actions, they are showing and passing a lot of passion. May be they all attended some kind of a common training program regarding teaching methodology.

As of now, after completing 3 in campus module days, I am very happy, excited and realizing that this was one of the best decisions that I took. Also, based on my analysis, 8-10 years of experience is the ideal time for taking up this course. I am loving it......
